Blog 10

I've never had a problem with addiction with my family or myself. I've never had a problem with addiction in any of my friends. Aside from smoking one Black&Mild every day, I'm not addicted to anything and even this addiction doesn't exactly have a great big hold on me, I'm not at that point where I couldn't stop even if I wanted to. The only reason I don't stop is that there's nothing really keeping me from doing it.

I can't ever say I've actually acted with prejudice or have been a victim of prejudice, so I don't have any anecdote or story about that. I've laughed at some race jokes but those were always light-hearted and the person in question was not offended. Other than that, not much really happened in my life in the way of prejudice. I guess I'm just lucky to have avoided it.

Blegg 7

Test Anxiety! I have barely any test anxiety. I don't get nervous on tests. A lot of times I don't even get nervous for tests I didn't study for. The only time I really get upset in any way is if there is a test that I forgot about completely. And then I'm rushing in the minutes before the class to get it all in so I can vomit it out. The only thing I can really think of to help with this is to set a schedule of when my tests are and update it as soon as I get new information about upcoming tests.

Chapter 6 - Blyg 6

So, we retain 10% of what we read? Well, that seems about right. When I think back and remember things that I read, I can only recall a small portion of it. Whereas the fact that we retain 50% of what we hear and see can also be applied to my memory, I can remember way more of what I hear and say than what I read. 70% of what we say: well, that's of course true, it came out of our own head. So naturally even if the brain isn't able to remember exactly, it can at least use clues to figure out the rest because it was the original maker of the idea. I can't really use any of this information for my benefit because these values seem to be fixed. I can't force my brain to retain more of what I read no matter how much I'd like. I'll just have to make the best use of everything I can the way I've been doing.

Chapter 5 - Blug 5

Right now all my classes are easy except for Freshman Seminar, this class. This class presents me the biggest reading challenge I have at the moment. And it's not the content the content that provides the reading challenge. It's the amount of reading required. With my busy schedule (just like everyone else) it becomes very difficult to keep up with reading, especially if the material has no merit to me. It's frankly boring and if it was more interesting it would be a lot easier to read. And no, I don't think anyone can tell me, "Oh that's life, you're always going to be reading things you don't want to, get over it." That's not true, I will always be reading things, whether for my job or legal documents, and I'm not going to dismiss them thinking, "Oh, it's boring" because when something determines the immediate outcome of my life, it becomes very interesting to me and easy to read. I definitely can't read the freshman seminar book any more easily, but the other important things in my life will certainly be that way.

Chapter 4 - Blag 4

There's not a specific instance which I regret but more of a long term decision is what I'm not happy with. I have let my fitness get away from me when I moved into America. I used to be in great shape in Moldova, and it was easy. There's not much to occupy yourself with there if you're lazy. You get outside and play. Also, the food there is all organic and great for you, nothing to slow you down. In America it was another story: plenty of television to watch and plenty of fatty foods I didn't think twice about eating. So then I put on some weight and let it slip away from me. I should have been more careful about it because now it is still an issue. Going back I would have known better what to eat and to get the right amount of exercise because it is much harder now.

Chapter 3 - Bloog 3

I'm an Adventurer and a Giver. I take fun and give thanks. My specialized skills are in Bodily-Kinesthetic, Visual-Spatial, Musical, and Interpersonal.

My skills and associated types are:
Analyzing use of own language
Sensing tonal qualities
Creative development
Seeing things from other's perspectives
Noticing moods, intentions, and temperments of others

This is cool. Because it shows me that I'm on the right track for trying to develop a career as a musician. I really didn't like the test the book gave me but I loved my type description by David Keirsey. He says I'm a Champion. That sounds awesome. Who doesn't want to be a champion? I know I do.

It's essencial for me to try things with my hands and I love to do things in visually or audiogenically. I'm quite happy with my personality type and am glad there are descriptions of it available. It really helps me learn what direction I should head in and what I'm capable of.

Chapter 2 - Blog 2

Class                                16 hrs
Work                               10 hrs
Studying                          4 hrs
Sleeping                         46 hrs
Eating                              4 hrs
Commuting/traveling      2 hr
Chores and personal business      13 hrs
friends and important relationships 30 hrs
communication time        3 hrs
leisure/entertainment    10 hrs
spiritual life                      0 hrs

I don't think I waste too much time. I study enough for the classes I have (I mean how much can you really study for math and freshman seminar?). I should spend more time taking care of business and doing homework but I spend too much time hanging out with friends instead.
Sometimes I stay up too late because I'm on the internet, but I am willing to spend more time exercising in order to make myself tired so I can go so sleep on time and get a good night's rest.

Chapter 1 - Blog 1

First of all, I didn't really "decide" to attend college. It was just the next level of schooling for me. My whole life it's been from one form of school to another (elementary to middle school, middle to high school). So, more or less it was something that was decided for me, back at Magnet everyone was smart and it was a college prep school. Everyone there (including friends), instead of asking if you're going to college or not, ask what college you're going to. I honestly don't know one person at my high school that isn't going to college. It's just what you do.

I haven't made any sacrifices getting here, it was easy to get accepted since I'm an intelligent kid. With financial aid I'm able to easily pay for my tuition and make extra money back. I really don't think I'll be making any sacrifices along the way either, I have a fun major that involves me doing something I'm good at and something that I love. I'm not sacrificing time, I spend less time in school because of the hours and the scheduling. There's not a lot of hard work to it, college makes it easy to put in more effort.

TL;DR - I have nothing to complain about and life is good!
